Gaelicism and the re-emergence of the Folk

This is a quick clarification of some of the items discussed in my post ‘Gaelicism – The Spirit of Nobility’. After reading the comments in response I feel that some people are still confusing what the terms ‘Gaelicism’ and ‘Folkism’ actually represent. Gaelicism corresponds to the spirit of our people that our ancestors exhibited in all its vital brilliance; the one which is the inspiration of all of our longstanding traditions. It is the essence of the higher culture that men and women used to aspire to absorb and embody with every fabric of their being and which subsequently empowered them on their journey to greater heights of realisation & accomplishment. It does not pertain to racial characteristics in any fashion.

The significance of the term itself (and the reason it was chosen & utilized by the 19th century Irish revolutionaries and why it is reiterated by myself) is that it forces a recollection upon ourselves of the people who we once were and the ideals that we once prized, giving us proper placement in time and space – one beyond the confusion of today. It allows us to divorce ourselves from the political, legal, economic, and national situation/affiliations of the era in which we now live, thereby permitting us to consider what we really are. In other words, we begin to see only what is real. We see that we were and still are, a Folk, as the illusory structures/concerns and the false-sentiments that they create are discarded.

Only when understood in this fashion does Gaelicism show its true potential and actual power. When people unite in pursuit of the higher purpose, only then are they worthy to be referred to as ‘a Folk’. Presently, most Irish are non-Folk, since they are incapable of uniting in any meaningful way on the issues that affect them most deeply, thereby consigning themselves to be exploited and subject to the whims of hidden masters. One might say that they are only united in the disunity which they all seem to share. Gaelicism – given the right efforts – will succeed in forging this Folk from among our people, effectively binding generations together to achieve a common goal and ultimate purpose.

Only then can one grasp that to tie Gaelicism to race would lead to serious folly, as the presence or existence of a certain ethnic group does not mean that this group qualifies as being a Folk, nor that a healthy, vibrant Folk-culture exists among them. Our ancestors for this reason were a Folk, sharing a strong cultural and idealistic unity, while being united in common purpose, order, desire, ethics, conduct, beliefs, and character. Reflecting upon this, to describe ‘Gaelic’  in racial intonations only is absurd, as it rejects its inherent Folk elements. Irish people today may be ‘one race’ composed of very similar ethnic groups but this matters little when each attends to his/her own concerns, with precious little regard even for those who are their own blood-kin and family, each seeking to satisfy his own selfish desires, knowing little of the reality around him. In effect they are unified by no higher principles or goals so they cannot be thought in terms of the Folk akin to ascendant culture/peoples that inhabited this nation before them. If our hopes lie with this ‘race’ of egoists, gossipers, and money-obsessive-maniacs then we are doomed.

When the Noble Gaels of the early 20th century rose up for our nationhood, the Folk came to their assistance; today, we have that nationhood yet the Folk have diminished considerably. Thus the Irish nation state, completely disembodied from any Folk-concept which it may have originally held on to, has become the very destroyer of the Freedoms we once cherished and of the people themselves in regards to identity, specific character & ideals. How can we claim to have a blazing faith in race or nationalism in this atmosphere that prevails today? They will not not solve the problems we face, they only hold onto an illusion of victory, as they  do not ascertain the dimensions, causes and forces involved in the formation of this degenerating new world culture which is now sweeping away the last vestiges of normalcy from the various cultural civilisations of the world. All things considered, racism, tribalism and modern nationalism are to be counted as part of a mass-reaction against the rampant internationalism (of the ‘progressivist’ culture) which now is occurring throughout Europe and elsewhere. [multiculturalism being in this category]. They only provide a very temporary solution at best, and at worst (and in line with the facts) they were expected and even nurtured by the same forces that planned progressivistic subversion and only serve as a means to further their cause.

The rebuilding of a new Folkism is the only real, effective alternative to secure what once was Irish-Gaelic civilisation, it is the foundation for our new politico-cultural abode. The Folk is what is lacking, nothing else – everything now lies in our hands to change things.
